Feedstock Preparation Process (May be cellulose, starch, or sugar) - The feedstock can be grown and harvested, waste, or cellulose grass grown in our hydroponic grow system. The feedstock is ground and automatically fed into mechanical cellulose converter. The feedstock is hydrolyzed with heat, pressure and a weak sulfuric acid solution.
Fermentation Process - The output from feedstock preparation process will be pumped into fermentation tanks. Yeast/bacteria will be added to the feedstock to produce fermented beer. The beer should be 20-proof or 10% alcohol in the solution. The solid waste is pelletized and the fermented beer moves to the distillation process.
Distillation Process - The distillation process uses heat produced by the
engine to boil the beer from the Engine Generator Set - The ethanol production refinery tightly integrates an engine, generator, and distillation system together. This approach uses the waste heat from the engine for the distillation process, and creates enough electricity to power the entire plant operation. The engine itself uses the gasified waste from the cellulose conversion process as its fuel.
Dehydration Process - The dehydration process uses a molecular sieve swing absorption system. A molecular sieve absorbs water vapor but does not allow the ethanol vapors to be absorbed. The molecular sieve material is then dried out for the next iteration of ethanol exposure. This process removes water in the ethanol and the ethanol becomes anhydrous.
Waste Water Cleanup Process - The waste water cleanup modules will operate along side the distillation modules to clean up the waste water or stillage from the distillation process as it is produced. Distillation waste water will include a high water content and everything that was in the fermented beer that wasn’t removed as ethanol. The distilled water may be used for feedstock preparation and/or fermentation process, or available for other uses requiring high-purity potable water.
Cellulose Grass Grow System - 4-container solution will produce 15 tons of grass per day, and most is fully automated to feed the grass directly into the cellulose feedstock preparation process without human intervention. This creates a complete self-contained ethanol production refinery that grows its own feedstock and produces 20 gallons of ethanol per hour continuously, all done with a footprint of less than 3,600 sq. ft.
