An azeotrope (pronounced /??zi.?tro?p/ ?-ZEE-?-trope) is a mixture of two or more liquids (chemicals) in such a ratio that its composition cannot be changed by simple distillation. A molecular sieve or similar process must further distill the ethanol.
Pressure Swing Absorption (PSA) is a modern technology for ethanol dehydration that was commercialized in the 1980s. The process uses the absorption and desorption nature of the molecular sieve toward the water. The PSA is designed with multiple columns for operating in the absorption and desorption modes.
Anhydrous Dehydration Modules
The dehydration module will dehydrate 190 proof ethanol to produce anhydrous ethanol. The
dehydration module will consist of a boiler, pressure swing molecular sieve tanks and associated pumps, pipes and
wiring. The module is automated using a custom PLC and is further controlled the the master control module to operate in conjunction with the distillation module. |
